In the woods camera gear

Camera gear

This is the gear I have been using for my timelapse and movie shooting the last couple of months. I really like the Primus AW backpack as I can fit all my camera gear in it + water and food!

I’ve been asked to create a music video for Vertigo Steps and their forthcoming album called “surface / light”. This work is coming along nicely and I’m hoping to have the video finished sometime next month.

New timelapse project: Bergen by night

I’ve recently started taking pictures for a new timelapse project. The theme for this will be Bergen city at night. Hoping to have enough content to release a movie sometime before Christmas.

Here are some screenshots from the upcoming timelapse:

My first time lapse with Canon 550D

Things I’ve learned after doing the above:
1. Make sure your tripod is 100% steady! Wind did affect my first test here and that is not desirable.
2. Do not use auto exposure. Use manual exposure so that your shots all have the same lightning conditions.
3. If possible try not to point the camera directly into sunlight. The above video became a bit too dark because i had the lens almost pointed directly into sunlight.

I used a Hähnel Giga T Pro for the interval timing of 5 seconds between the shots. I then used Quicktime Pro for putting the shots together at 24fps.

Here is a good tutorial on the subject:

Choosing WordPress over Joomla

I’ve just finished work on implementing a WordPress site at www.fjordadvokat.no I really like the template and photos we chose for the site.

Despite a few service provider firewall bans and general upgrade problems I think I will be using WordPress as my base CMS for external projects in the future. It seems that my customers understand the wp backend quicker and better than Joomla.

I think the main reason for this is the simple fact that there aren’t that many menu choices in WordPress compared to Joomla. At first glance wp seems to be more stripped down function wise than Joomla, but the base functions get the job done.

Lofoten

Pictures from my trip to Lofoten in January. I really want to go back there someday! Hopefully I will be able to see the midnight sun there sometime.
