Mar De Grises band discovery

With the excellent help of last.fm I just discovered the band “Mar De Grises” from Chile. They are a death/doom metal band who formed in 2000. I’ve been listening heavily to their latest album “Streams Inwards” these last few days.

Crash playthrough video

A few weeks ago I got a bit of a nostalgic feeling when I saw that the old Half Life modification Firearms was still alive. This got me thinking that I wanted to play my old single player episode called Crash. After installing everything from scratch I also installed Fraps and made a playthrough video of the level. JavaZone epilogue

I am very pleased with JavaZone 2010! I attended lots of interesting talks and met some old collegues. All in all a very fun and interesting conference.

Some of the things I have been inspired to look more into after the conference:

No Agenda show

Ricki Sickenger who is a a collegue at work, recommended the Google Listen app for my HTC Desire. I’ve never really listened to podcasts before so I thought I’d give it a go. The app itself does it’s job, but it could be easier to use. I guess the folks over at Google will improve it in the future.

Ricki also recommended that I should try out the No Agenda show on my newly installed app. So I did and boy was I in for a hilarious show. Now, instead of listening to music on my commute to work in the mornings I listen to this show.

Firearms source

In 2001 I was playing the Half Life modification Firearms. I started mapping for the game and was lucky to release the map ps_crash for the 2.5 release in March 2001.

My interest in the project faded after the release of Half Life 2. I was hoping that some of the guys from the original team would get back together and make a modification for the source engine. Now, apparantly they have and Firearms Source has been released.

Canon 550D

I’ve always wanted a DSLR camera. For my 30th birthday this March I could finally afford one! My choice was to buy the Canon 550D. The camera is capable of filming in HD 1080p. This is my first effort of putting together a movie with shots from the camera:
